1. The Society will not grant exclusive rights to the use of its collections to any party or parties, and its assumes no responsibility for claims arising from third parties.

2. A publication fee is due when permission is granted to publish or reproduce materials from the KHS collections. The following fees cover one-time, non-exclusive use per item. The publication fee is additional to any expense or fees levied as a result of copy work.

3. If a photograph of a painting or graphic is cropped in any way, the caption must include the word "detail." Nothing may be superimposed on photographs made available through the Society.

4 Photographic reproductions from the Society's collections may not be printed on color stock without permission.

5. The credit line "Collections of the Kennebec Historical Society" must appear directly beneath each photograph published or reproduced from the collections, or such credit must appear in the section devoted to acknowledgments.

6. Applicant shall give to the KHS Library a copy of the publication in which the illustrative material appears.

7. Responsibility for observance of copyright and other publication rights, including literary rights, rests with the patron and not with the Society.
